CORAL CENTRE

DESIGN STUDIO
The brief was to incorporate nature into an abandoned concrete building for an adaptive reuse building. As per the brief between 50-50% of the original building had to be kep[ and the rest should be changed.
Location: Lincoln Heights Jail, Los Angeles, California, USA
Softwares used: Rhino, Grasshopper, Cinema 4D, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Throughout the design, it is clearly visible that there are parts of the original building that have been removed creating cavities and some areas where parts have been added on. Using grasshopper to create a complex tubular geometry that intertwines with itself creates interesting spaces within the building. When viewed from outside, green spaces can be seen on the building which act as open gardens.
